What are Factitive Verbs?

Factitive Verbs are used to indicate a condition or state of a person, place, or thing that results from the action of the verb.

Examples:

“Alona was assigned leader by the teacher.”
The Factitive Verb in this sentence is "assigned" because it indicates the condition or state of the leader (“she”) that resulted from the action “assign”.
The reason why she is the “assigned leader” is because the teacher assigned her.

"The defendant is judged not guilty."
The Factitive Verb in this sentence is “judged” because it indicates the state or condition of the defendant that resulted from the action “judge”.
The reason why the defendant is “judged not guilty” is because the jury judged him/her.
