Expressing Relationships Between Parts of the Sentence
Conjunctions express relationships between parts of a sentence, as seen in the examples above.
In the first example:
"Maria is an English teacher, and she teaches at a nearby university."
The conjunction and shows that the second clause adds information to the first.
In the second example:
"I will go to Nevada, for I will study there."
The conjunction for indicates that the second sentence gives the reason for the first.
