What are Relative Adverbs?
Relative Adverbs function similarly to Relative Pronouns. They introduce Relative Clauses that modify a noun or noun phrase.
While relative pronouns like that, which, and who relate information to a person or thing, relative adverbs use where, when, and why to relate information to a place, time, or reason an action took place.
- where — for a place
- when — for a time
- why — for a reason
Examples:
"Miranda, the place where I was born, is a very beautiful place."
"I have to directly buy groceries when I get to the store."
"Do you have an idea why the Earth rotates?"
